You can’t beat hiking with your kids, especially in the fall. The weather is perfect – not too hot, not too cold, just right. The trails aren’t nearly as busy as in the summer since a lot of travelers have gone home to get ready for school. And, it’s beautiful in the woods in the fall. Oh the colors, no matter where you live!
Now, when I say “hiking” I’m not talking about arduous, thigh killer events that make you want to say, “We did it. NEVER doing that again.” We’ve known folks who hike like they have invented speed hiking or something. No slowing down once they hit the trail. But that didn’t work for us, or for our kids. Health. It gets a bushel of press! And, a lot of that press gives people a lot of pressure. “I should be…” “I should quit…..” “Maybe I’ll start……soon.” Health is also BIG business, so it profits someone out there if you flap around worrying about the perfect way to improve your family’s health. So you buy a book, join the gym, or start some fad diet.
What I have noticed is that health isn’t that hard to have. You may want a book or a gym membership, but you don’t need them to succeed at being healthy. And, have you heard? “Diets” are out, too – thank goodness! And best of all, health doesn’t require you to blow your savings.
